According to scripture, yes. When we look at the ministry of Jesus, He would go into the temple and cast demons out of devout Jews attending the temple. One story in particular is at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry in Mark 1:21-28. Derek Prince does a good job explaining this context in this 5 minute video clip.

There are 3 main things that open the door into someone’s life:

Generational sin

Unforgiveness

Unconfessed sin

Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the son of God and the only way to God. That you died on the cross for my sin and rose again from the dead. I renounce all my sins and I turn to you Lord Jesus for mercy and for
forgiveness. I believe that you do forgive me. For now on I want to live for you. I want to hear your voice and do what you tell me.

In order to receive your blessing Lord and to be released from any curse over my life, first of all I confess any known sin committed by me or by any of my ancestors or others related to me (take a moment and confess quietly between you and God.)

Lord I thank you that I believe you have forgiven everything that I have confessed. And now I also forgive all other persons who have harmed me or wronged me. I forgive them all now as I would have God forgive me. In particular I forgive... (take a moment and allow the Holy Spirit to help bring those people to mind.)

Furthermore Lord, I renounce any contact by myself or any related to me with Satan or with occult power in any form or any kind of secret society. Also, Lord, I commit myself to remove from my house any kind of occult objects that honour Satan and dishonour Jesus Christ. With your help Lord, I will remove them all.

And now Lord Jesus I thank you further that on the cross you were made a curse that I might be redeemed from the curse and might receive the blessing. And because of what you did for me on the cross I now release myself from every curse and every evil influence and every dark shadow over me or my family. I release myself now in the name of Jesus. Amen.

1. Failure to honour father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise (Exodus 20:12). It never will be truly well with them. Even if you don’t think you have the best parents.

2. An ancestor who sought dark forces (other gods): fortune‐teller, clairvoyant, spiritist, Christian Science practitioner, for example – Spirit of deep slumber Fortuneteller (Stops a person from getting into worship), psychics, horoscopes, palm reader, esp., hypnosis, handwriting analysis, Ouija board, supernatural knowledge is very dangerous. Only two sources of knowledge: God or Satan. Jesus tell us that He is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. Anything outside of Jesus Christ is from Satan (Repent and revoke and renounce the claim they have on us). Some of this may have happened with our relatives. Important to break off curses.

3. Divination: predictive ability of things that can happen (Acts 16:16) God does not reveal horror to you. If He reveals something to us it is to bring redemption to us and or others.

4. Witchcraft: manipulation, control (Who has bewitched you? Galatians 3:1) Goes after rulers to captivate the people of God. People that come against leadership watch out for. Addictions—nicotine, alcohol, drugs, television, many others.

5. Occult involvement – horoscopes, drugs. Fortuneteller speaks curses and if you receive it then it will happen as a curse.

6. Rejection. Passive: “Nobody loves me.” People could say that they wish they weren’t alive. Aggressive: Resentment, hatred, rebellion (1 Samuel 15:23) rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.
